I was a vulnerable 19 year old searching for myself when I was manipulated & recruited into the "Church" of Scientology. I spent 20 years of my energy & time in this "church" and community, thinking it was helping people & society. Met my husband & raised a family, built a thriving business, made "lifelong friends" all in this community. When we finally woke up to the lies, mind control & manipulation we had been victim to, the damage to our lives had already been done. We lost our entire community & most of our "friends" of 20 years, our jobs & income, our children's friends stopped talking to them and we were ostracized from our community literally overnight. Ultimately in the end we lost our home, retirement & college funds and everything a family works for their entire lives to build. We were extremely lucky at the time, to get out 5 years ago with our marriage & immediate family intact, which in all honesty almost didn't happen then & is another story entirely.

Many say "it's your own fault, you're ignorant", and its impossible for many to understand how this can happen to people. I personally know at least 50 others who left Scientology & lost everything they've worked their entire lives to build and have spoken to hundreds of other ex-cult members who are in the same situation or worse. There are thousands who are struggling daily to overcome the losses, abuse & struggles they've endured as a result of mind controlling, maniuplative "churches / cults / spiritual gurus". Since leaving Scientology, I've extensively researched & studied cults, in an effort to make sense of how and why this could happen to me & others.

This isn't about feeling sorry or having pity on me or others, or judging how ignorant we may have been. Most of us are strong, resilient fighters & we will rebuild and overcome our losses and struggles one way or another. We will!

This campaign is about education and Preventing it from happening to others who are vulnerable to the deceptive tactics used to recruit new members.

I was never taught the warning signs & red flags of controlling & manipulative groups and people.

If my parents or schools had educated me about these things, my life would be completely different today. But they didn't know then, as this information was not widely known or available to high schools, universities or society in general. Until Now.

Please watch my video below where an executive in the "Church" of Scientology in Clearwater, FL challenges me about the cult awareness literature I handed him, which resulted in us debating about their insidious, mind controlling disconnection policy that is tearing apart families & ruining lives. This is the only video of its kind that I'm aware of, where an executive admits to the policy that is so definately denied by the church, even on national TV. This video would never have been captured had it not been for the organization F.A.C.T. & the preventative education materials they provide to the public. This is the only non-profit of it's kind and your support is greatly needed as this problem is not going away on it's own.
